Just got a new heartrate monitor (Polar F6).

Since you are heavier, it will be a little higher. A good RHR is between 60 and 70. If you could get it under 80, I'm sure that would be fine.

Measure your heart rate only after lying down for 10 minutes. Walking around or other activity may raise it temporarily and inhibit the results. At my healthiest point, I can get mine down to around 45, but for most people that is not possible. Anything under 60 would indicate that you are very much in shape.

Also take your blood pressure into account. About 120/80 is ideal. When my RHR was 45, my blood pressure was down to 98/68.

To better both RHR and BP, engage in cardio training (Running, Biking, Swimming) and maintain a heart rate of 70-80% your maximum (220 minus your age...in this case 195). As you advance, you can train at up to 90%. I would recommend training for at least 20 minutes for three to six times per week. For fat loss, train at 60% for 45-60 minutes for (ideally) six times per week.
