Thanks for trying to redirect my question to anti-protein supplements but I do need the supplements due to surgery (Dr's orders). I am hoping to find some that taste good to make it easier - Thanks:-)
I have only tried a couple protein bars in my day so I am not too familiar with the taste of all the other stuff out there, but after a couple real nasty bars I found one that I could actually handle pretty nicely. That protein bar was Caramel Peanut Low Sugar Detour Bar. Personally I found this bar quite easy to handle (it can be a little dry so I normally follow up bites with some water). I went for the low sugar bar to try and reduce my intake as much as possible. It still has 340 calories in the bar though. I am not sure what you were looking in terms of calories but I used this more as a meal replacement when I can not eat healthy proteins from foods (which of course is always the best recommended way to get protein). Also it has plenty of protein at 30 grams. The other side effect is the saturated fat being 6 grams. This is why I use this bar only if I am away from home and not as a supplement being used everyday or what not. So I would think that a protein bar might not be the best route for you.
Protein Shake - Gold Standard 100% whey
This protein tastes pretty good again compared to others I had in the past. I have only tried the extreme milk chocolate since that is what I like so I am not sure how the other 20+ flavors are. It offers considerably less calories then the bar (130) along with less saturated fats (.5g) so those are both wonderful. Also the carbs are only 4g so this is purely a protein supplement at 24 grams each scoop or 8 ounces of drink.
Where to Get -
Personally I use bodybuilding . com just because it is a site I trust and they offer tons of valuable information I look through quite a bit for research, education, etc. They are probably not the cheapest site to find the products but I leave that up to you. If you look up the products I am sure you will find a number of sites you can order it from. They will have a list of the flavors, the nutritional facts, perhaps some reviews of the product, etc. Also the protein shake has been one of the sites best sellers so obviously a lot of people would agree with me on the taste factor since it continues to be at the top of the list over the past couple years.
Lastly, there is plenty of information on the internet with reviews that you can look at. Also, some stores like Walmart of bars where you can go an test out couple before you buy 12 of one brand or a couple boxes, etc. Just start diving into the material and decide what you think is best.
